This is both a good and common question most often asked when people are considering the lease of a CXR x-ray machine for non-destruction testing (NDT) of their products.
Radiation safety is a priority
Have you seen the Disney Movie titled ” Wall-E”?
If so, you’ll remember the scene when Wall-E first visits the contained ship, and he is found to be filled with “foreign contaminants”.
While CXR inspection equipment will not go around cleaning up contaminants within your product — like a little robot, it will identify any invisible issues your product my have.
Rest assured the CXR’s x-ray inspection systems are safe for your people and product(s).
Our x-ray equipment is in full compliance is Government Regulations 21 CFR 179.21, as highlighted on the right.
This regulations does warn for cabinet x-ray …
no food shall be exposed to radiation sources so as to receive an absorbed dose in excess of 10 grays.

CXR inspection systems safe design has one purpose
Our equipment is designed specifically to inspect products for foreign particle contaminants, product defects, etc. across various industries for numerous applications.
Within the scope of this inspection our x-ray machines do not perform irradiation, or sterilization of your goods /product(s).
As stated on the FDA’s Radiation- Emitting Products FAQ Page:
“The radiation dose typically received by objects scanned by a cabinet x-ray system is 1 millirad or less. The average dose rate from background radiation is 360 millirad per year. The minimum dose used in food irradiation for food preservation or destruction of parasites or pathogens is 30,000 rad.”
